Research from the 6th NETSCOUT Threat Intelligence Report and the 16th annual WISR survey shows that the COVID-19 pandemic drove unprecedented DDoS attack activity in 2020. We saw a staggering 10,089,687 DDoS attacks in 2020 as adversaries targeted critical online services and remote-work access came under fire. Meanwhile, a global DDoS extortion campaign affected thousands of companies and drove a significant increase in DDoS extortion attacks.
